So this was my first book of this natureOk well kindahere's what I mean Raven's Kiss is labeled as Paranormal Romance and it is but it's different from the others I've read This is of a CSI meets demons trolls mages shifters and much MUCH The story line was great and fast paced I loved the idea of parallel time and there being another me but not so ME running around somewhere that I can't see In truthI think that I have always believed this to be the case And know I know how to jump through SA WEEE now just to find one of those rips in a closet somewherelolzI liked Raven's voice in the book She is snarky strong as nails and doesn't take crap from anyone but she is also broken She battles the struggles of being attacked by a demon A demon that changed her species entirely You see once a mere mortal human Raven now finds herself a Shifter Able to shape shift into just about anything Which sounds cool right? Yea well most humans bitten turned by a demon become uncontrollably evil thusly most peopleOthers alike fear her So much so that her boss at the Recovery commands her to take some time off when she is showing signs of wear Ever since Raven was bitten she has made it her duty to take down each and every rouge Other she can get her hands on hoping to one day find and kill the demon that changes herIt's been over a year since she was attackedand now she finds out that he is still up to his old tricks Vacation or not she won't sleep until he is stoppedI really liked the story but I fear that whole CSI angle isn't really for me Nothing at all wrong with the story The writing is great The plot has all the right twists The men are HOT I never thought I could be attracted to a man with red hair but make him Scottish? Ummmm yea that I can get used to winks All in all I would say if you like the investigation type stuff this book is for you In fact if I was into that type of book or movie for that matter then I would LOVE this book Because everything is done so well In fact I would say it is prolly easily 4 12 stars as far as the writing is concerned It's just the CSI type stuff that I just wasn't that into

Raven's Kiss A Paranormal Romance is my first read from author Toni LoTempio and it had a very interesting premise which delivered in an exciting story featuring Raven Grace who was turned into a Coli or shapeshifter as a young college student Years later Raven is still hunting the demon who savagely ripped her normal life to shreds and turned it on it's ear As a member of an elite unit called the Recovery Organization and tasked with the job of protecting humans from rogue Paranormals Raven is forced into taking a two week leave of absence by her superior In those two weeks Raven's life is once again changed and turned upside down this time in ways that prove to be positive During the journey with Raven there is uite a bit of world building we find out secrets about Raven that are not only eye openers for her but the reader as well The author has created a strong female character who is intelligent and able to think on her feet The supporting characters of Hedy George Naomi Finn and Gwnecha are very well fleshed out and once the story really gets rolling it flows fairly uickly for the reader and even though the ending is just a bit too pat for me I enjoyed this first offering in the series

NOTE Actual rating is 425 stars I reviewed this book for Night Owl ReviewsFAVORITE LINEOn those rare occasions when you drop your guard and I see the woman behind the false bravado she's uite appealing indeed Finn McPheeTEASERFinn leaned into the fae “Nice try but you forget my abilities Your guard is down woman I can tell you were lying to us You knew the prophecy You left out certain parts Now we want to know why”“No” she spat “You think you want to know why Take an old fairy’s advice won’t you luv and steer clear of all this”“Well we’d like to but I’m afraid that’s not possible” Finn’s eyes glittered like two fine emeralds as he stared the fae down “You know the full extent of Raven’s involvement with this prophecy You know and you’re going to share that knowledge with us” Finn McPheePLOTBased on a prophecy Raven's Kiss is an excellent adult urban fantasy that kept me guessing chapter after chapter The author did a good job of weaving mystery and a little romance together with a highly adventurous story thread The action and adventure lead the heroine Raven through some strange situations that had me very entertained and wanting with each flip of the page The story flowed well for the most part but I did feel the dialogue weighed down the pace at times The one aspect of the story that I hard time believing was some of the things Raven would say to the hero Finn In fact there were a couple of times I had to step away from the story and come back to it later because of the way Raven handled herself However this did not affect the strong beginning middle and end that from the start pulled me into the thick of Raven's world where she is a Recovery Agent similar to our FBI Agent As in all urban fantasy the world building is the bases of the story and I have to say the author did a great job of creating a world that was uniue in every sense And while the romance was not at the forefront of the story I did find the connection between Raven and her male interest Finn a nice touch and a bit sensual to follow by the end It added a great flavor to the story and ultimately had me cheering for Raven when at times I wanted to reach out and teach her some manners I am happy to say though that she did grow into a character that I liked and hope to see in further books to come Contrary to many urban fantasy books and to my satisfaction the author wrapped up the story uite nicely without leaving us with a cliffhanger that would have left me months wondering what happened to Raven and Finn I am not one for endings that leave me guessing at all and for that alone I know I will be picking up Toni LoTempio's next bookSETTINGWhile not giving anything away I will say that the story takes place in Carolers Falls but be careful that one clue could be deceiving WRITINGMs LoTempio can write with a craftiness that proves she can tell a tale Her writing style affords such attention to detail that you know exactly what is going on around the main character even though the story is told in first person This is no easy task I assure you And even though this is a self published book the editing was for the most part spot on with very limited mistakes throughout the entire book CHARACTERSRaven Grace is one character I almost ended up disliking completely After being attacked by a demon and left as a shapeshifter she adopts an attitude that is hard to get along with for the first half of the book On one hand you understand her single minded determination to rid the world of any evil doers but it is hard to swallow at times and as I said above had me stepping away from the book a few times If not for the secondary characters and the tight plot Raven might have stopped me from continuing But I also have to say that I wanted to see if she would grow beyond her hatred and I was not disappointed in the least While she is still snarky 'till the very end a veil is lifted at the latter end of the book and I was able to get a good look at the girl that was left to fend for herself after her attack the girl that was wounded and had to come to terms with being a shapeshifter or coli as she is referred to in the story By the end I liked the character she became and hope to see of her in the next book As for her love interest Finn had a much pleasant attitude about himself and with his Scottish brogue I would have fallen him just as hard as Raven did I found his ability to see under Raven's veil and accept her for who she is as an admirable uality Most men wouldn't care to dig deep enough but Finn did yet not without giving her a bit of his own alpha character first And the secondary characters is what added the depth to the story in my opinion Without giving anything away I loved meeting all the two sided characters It took having multiple personalities and added a twist that gave the story it's fun and uniue take on urban fantasy LAST THOUGHTSThis fun and exciting tale is filled with a deadly prophecy a heroine fighting against evil and a casting of characters that will have you entertained for hours I recommend Raven's Kiss to all lovers of Urban fantasy and even paranormal romance I hope to see of Raven and her redheaded Scotsman in future installments of this series

Paranormal readers will love Raven's Kiss this book has it all; action magic paranormal creatures alternate dimensions and even romance The heroine of the story is Raven a woman whose life was turned upside down in 1 night when she was bitten by a demon The bite turned Raven into a shape shifting demon herself and instead of becoming a cop for the police she is now a cop for the Recovery Organization the paranormal police Raven is full of pent up anger and the need for vengeance her attacker was never found and she resents how her new life was thrust on her In search of her attacker who has been attacking even women Raven will go anywhere even to an alternate dimension In the alternate dimension Raven finds that she plays a very important role in her attacker demon's plans Raven must accept who she is and face her demons to save not only herself but her friends and life as she knows itRaven's Kiss is a very fun book to read the characters are entertaining and easy to like The paranormal elements are diverse there are all kinds of supernatural creatures and the world in the book is very creative the supernatural blend well with the mortal world I love the concept of the alternate dimension in Raven's Kiss this uniue concept gives the story that extra something the world gets intriguing In the alternate dimension there are the same characters as in the original dimension but they have made different life choices and are therefore different people with different personalities I really like Finn the leader of the Recovery in the alternate dimension and Raven's new crush They work well together and for the most part their relationship is believableI did have some minor issues near the end of Raven's Kiss When lives are on the line and time is of the essence Raven and Finn take some time out for themselves I found this just really unrealistic and rolled my eyes a bit In the later part of the book some of the magic and happenings were a bit over the top as well However despite these minor issues I really enjoyed the bookRaven's Kiss is action packed never slow and always entertaining The romance in this book is not excessive it fits the story and all that Raven is going through I am looking forward to seeing what comes next for Raven I will read from Toni LoTempio in the future Readers who like paranormal urban fantasy books will likely enjoy reading Raven's KissI received this book for review

  10. Jules (Never enough time to read) Jules (Never enough time to read) says:

it took me a little while to get into the story as it does start off uite slow setting the scene and introducing all the characters it also took me a little while to get to grips with who was who However after all of that I really enjoyed the story and I loved the idea of having a parallel universe that was only slightly different to the one Raven was currently living in The demon who Raven is trying to capture and bring to justice is capable of crossing back and forth to either dimension but it is far complicated for a human but as luck would have it Raven was in the right place at the right time When Raven crosses over she finds Finn a hunky Scottish man who is also tracking the same crimes in his world I really enjoyed the chemistry between Raven and Finn which developed and was heightened by the constant danger of the demon I both loved and hated that Finn was Scottish mostly because I am Scottish myself so I found that there were uite a few flaws in his stereotype and what he said it just didn’t all fit together perfectly However having said that there are definitely not enough red haired burly Scottish men with an endearing sensitive side and a body to drool over as the main leads in romance novels He was certainly an interesting character I really enjoyed Raven’s Kiss and although the book wasn’t perfect it was well written and polished I also really liked a lot of the minor characters as well as the main ones and I did love that some characters had completely different personalities from one world to the next which made the cast that Toni had created even interesting This is well and truly a romance first with loads of extra sub plots all intertwined to keep you glued to the page the one thing I will say is that this wasn’t as steamy a read as you might expect from the cover With this type of book you can often guess the ending as well as the middle and beginning of the story however there are definitely a few surprises in Raven’s Kiss to keep you reading until the very ending The end was done really well and everything was wrapped up but there was certainly scope left for a seuel I would happily recommend this book it was an easy and entertaining read I will definitely be looking out for of Toni LoTempio’s work in the future

Paranormal readers will love Raven's Kiss this book has it all; action magic paranormal creatures alternate dimensions and even romance The heroine of the story is Raven a woman whose life was turned upside down in 1 night when she was bitten by a demon The bite turned Raven into a shape shifting demon herself and instead of becoming a cop for the police she is now a cop for the Recovery Organization the paranormal police Raven is full of pent up anger and the need for vengeance her attacker was never found and she resents how her new life was thrust on her In search of her attacker who has been attacking even women Raven will go anywhere even to an alternate dimension In the alternate dimension Raven finds that she plays a very important role in her attacker demon's plans Raven must accept who she is and face her demons to save not only herself but her friends and life as she knows itRaven's Kiss is a very fun book to read the characters are entertaining and easy to like The paranormal elements are diverse there are all kinds of supernatural creatures and the world in the book is very creative the supernatural blend well with the mortal world I love the concept of the alternate dimension in Raven's Kiss this uniue concept gives the story that extra something the world gets intriguing In the alternate dimension there are the same characters as in the original dimension but they have made different life choices and are therefore different people with different personalities I really like Finn the leader of the Recovery in the alternate dimension and Raven's new crush They work well together and for the most part their relationship is believableI did have some minor issues near the end of Raven's Kiss When lives are on the line and time is of the essence Raven and Finn take some time out for themselves I found this just really unrealistic and rolled my eyes a bit In the later part of the book some of the magic and happenings were a bit over the top as well However despite these minor issues I really enjoyed the bookRaven's Kiss is action packed never slow and always entertaining The romance in this book is not excessive it fits the story and all that Raven is going through I am looking forward to seeing what comes next for Raven I will read from Toni LoTempio in the future Readers who like paranormal urban fantasy books will likely enjoy reading Raven's KissI received this book for review

it took me a little while to get into the story as it does start off uite slow setting the scene and introducing all the characters it also took me a little while to get to grips with who was who However after all of that I really enjoyed the story and I loved the idea of having a parallel universe that was only slightly different to the one Raven was currently living in The demon who Raven is trying to capture and bring to justice is capable of crossing back and forth to either dimension but it is far complicated for a human but as luck would have it Raven was in the right place at the right time When Raven crosses over she finds Finn a hunky Scottish man who is also tracking the same crimes in his world I really enjoyed the chemistry between Raven and Finn which developed and was heightened by the constant danger of the demon I both loved and hated that Finn was Scottish mostly because I am Scottish myself so I found that there were uite a few flaws in his stereotype and what he said it just didn’t all fit together perfectly However having said that there are definitely not enough red haired burly Scottish men with an endearing sensitive side and a body to drool over as the main leads in romance novels He was certainly an interesting character I really enjoyed Raven’s Kiss and although the book wasn’t perfect it was well written and polished I also really liked a lot of the minor characters as well as the main ones and I did love that some characters had completely different personalities from one world to the next which made the cast that Toni had created even interesting This is well and truly a romance first with loads of extra sub plots all intertwined to keep you glued to the page the one thing I will say is that this wasn’t as steamy a read as you might expect from the cover With this type of book you can often guess the ending as well as the middle and beginning of the story however there are definitely a few surprises in Raven’s Kiss to keep you reading until the very ending The end was done really well and everything was wrapped up but there was certainly scope left for a seuel I would happily recommend this book it was an easy and entertaining read I will definitely be looking out for of Toni LoTempio’s work in the future
