    Basic Premise Short scenes and monologues for teenagers, about teenagers teenage life.I found this play on the back shelf of the theatre classroom in my school I was looking for something to do with my acting class for their final exam performance I didn t want to do something cheesy, and the title made me nervous about the cheese factor, but the play pleasantly surprised me It doesn t shy away from issues affecting modern teens, no matter how uncomfortable There are some funny moments and Basic Premise Short scenes and monologues for teenagers, about teenagers teenage life.I found this play on the back shelf of the theatre classroom in my school I was looking for something to do with my acting class for their final exam performance I didn t want to do something cheesy, and the title made me nervous about the cheese factor, but the play pleasantly surprised me It doesn t shy away from issues affecting modern teens, no matter how uncomfortable There are some funny moments and lots of good, serious ones For my class, it s really nice because of the structure short, 2 person scenes separated by short monologues The part load is thus very equal It s a good opportunity for the kids to build realistic characters There are some dated moments mostly in references to technology that was new when the play was written 1982 Walkmans , but nothing content wise seems off.One small warning if you want something safe for your high school drama class, this isn t it There are some parts of this play that are very controversial and will cause waves if you use them in public performance, especially if you use it for a class performance, and REALLY especially if you live in a conservative leaning area The note at the beginning gives producers directors license to omit problematic sections, but NOT ADD

    I di this show my freshman year and we got SUPERIOR scoring, but we didn t win We got an Honorable Mention and a Best Actress award, so we were so happy This show is POWERFUL It grabs you, makes you laugh makes you cry, makes you think, and that s what I love about it.
