This is a cute story about Egypt filled with lots of facts disguised as vacation highlights Amelia I enjoyed writing our names in hieroglyphics using the chart that the end of the bookNOTE This is not on the BYL1 curriculum I'm waiting for a different hieroglyphics book from the library and came across this while browsing at the library one day I think we'll check out others in the series

I discovered this book in a bookstore in Bucharest while shopping for books for our girls There were several books of a series featuring this pair of Chihuahuas and I perused them all What I liked was the colorful illustrations and the exciting adventure of exploring a new culture and city What frustrated me was the seemingly random selection of what to present I know that small children have a limited attention span and cannot be expected to learn all aspects of a culture in one story And the author seemed to select a sampling of history food vocabulary geography etc to present But it just doesn't feel like a coherent tale like a scattered list of different things that happen to be Egyptian The characters are certainly cute and I'm sure it would make a good souvenir for a trip but I wasn't overly impressed

Bella and Harry are off to Egypt where they explore ancient culture I would have loved language in this book like they did in the Barcelona book but being able to spell my name with hieroglyphics at the end of the story made up for it somewhat The boats were really cool as I hadn't thought much about how water travel was accomplished on the Nile

  4. Jen Jen says:
