There was a sudden shift into a bit of plot in this book first time I've seen it happen in the many books I've read so far but it didn't seem to really go anywhere I was disappointed though the shift was abrupt it was a nice change I'd like to see a little of that Interesting buildings I wish we'd seen of the inside of them and not just the outsides The decor of these places is amazing and also worth a look

My daughter and I are hooked on these books Borrowed from our library we decided we are going to put our Barnes and Noble gift cards to good use and invest in books where Bella and Harry explore some of our favorite cities What I loved about Bella and Harry visiting Istanbul was the connection my daughter made to an episode of Let’s Go Luna where Luna the Moon and her trio of kid fans visit Istanbul most notably the Hagia Sophia I was once again reminded how we need to either buy or make our own Turkish Delight Very informative with amazing illustrations these books make me want to take my kids all over the world

Harry and Bella are two chihuahuas who take the reader on a rapid tour of Istanbul It is nicely informative for a picture book covering several historical points of interest The illustrations were nice However I am extremely confused by their relationship As I first was reading the book I just assumed they were friends or siblings as the description here on goodreads claims Yet the scene where they were eating breakfast Bella says Let's go HarryOur children are going to have a traditional Turkish breakfast Harry responds with What are they going to have for breakfast Bella? This exchange implies they are married and have children despite the fact that no other dogs appear in that scene or any other throughout the book Bella again mentions Harry and her family later but only Harry is in the picture I don't know maybe I have missed something by not reading others in the series but it is confusing to me and really bothered my son who was trying to read it Also a few pages had the text overlying the illustrations making it hard to read I did read an e galley from NetGalley so hopefully these things were taken care of in the final edition I do like the idea of the series The dogs make adorable and informative tour guides

Bella and Harry are exploring Istanbul Turkey this time The Chihuahuas explore the city on their own and visit such sights as the First Bosphorus Bridge that connects the city across two continents the OrtakoyGrand Imperial Mosue Hagia Sofia Grand Bazaar and many Bella and Harry also eat traditional Turkish food in Istanbul and throw in a few simple Turkish words In the back of the book is a list of Fun Turkish Words and Phrases which provides readers with a brief introduction to words they would hear in Istanbul The only thing that I wish the list had is a pronunciation guide for the words to imagine how they are supposed to sound This was an interesting and informative read though it felt a little bit like fluff without much of a story I was impressed to come across this book though as I haven't come across many picture books that introduce Turkey to children particularly in story form as this one does Bella and Harry are too cute though and children will like joining on their adventures

Lisa Manzione’s non fiction for young readers follows the new style of making non fiction read like a fiction story and it does it well In The Adventures of Bella and Harry Let’s Visit Istanbul 2 adorable Chihuahuas travel around Istanbul and point out local points of interest and give some information on the country and city they are in The illustrations really make this book and Kristine Lucco does a beautiful job of portraying these culturally significant places This book is part of a series Bella and Harry visit other cities and learn about other locations and the website connected to the series has teacher guides and lesson plans that are downloadable which is just great I will say that when I read Let’s Visit Istanbul I did not feel that I got much back story on Harry and Bella or why they travel the world but as this is around the eighth book I am thinking some of that information is given in earlier stories35 stars

Disclosure I received a free ebook of this title from NetGalleyTwo little dogs learn about the tourist attractions in Istanbul Turkey While the book provides interesting facts about Istanbul’s landmarks and culture and defines a few Turkish words as well as some English words mosue sultan I think that a nonfiction book with real photographs would present this information effectively than this book’s drawings and use of dogs as a narrative device Four stars for the factual information and two stars for the story and illustrations

I think this is a very informative book about Istanbul Turkey where two chihuahas travel there and show us how wonderful that city is But i have to say if you allowe me that i found the illustrations not very beautiful And that´s something important in a childrens book But may be its just my taste Would be great for 89 years old children who want to know about the world

  8. Jackson Kennedy Jackson Kennedy says:
