This was one of my favorite book series when I was younger It was fun to read it to my little brother Even if it took us a few years XD

  2. Blake Hurt Blake Hurt says:

These books sparked my love for fantasy I remember in 5th grade coming home from Barns and Noble after having picked out the book because the guy on the cover looked cool I then could not sleep because I wanted to read and could not put the book down I lost sleep because I was so excited over having an incredible book to read in the morningNow 20 years old I don't think it would have the same effect as a re read but hey 4 stars for nostalgia and launching my obsession with fantasy

  3. Jonah Jonah says:

It was fun to read but it was four books in one? Why not just one Otherwise it was great

  4. Carson Carson says:

I'm really surprised this series hasn't become a movie or even as popular as the Harry Potter series Yeah it's a really easy and uick story to read but it gets your imagination juices flowing Great way to start a series So far my favorite Deltora uest book is #4 because it adds a sense of Olympic games This is like a beginner's book series for something like The Lord of Rings Recommended for pre teens young adults or older

  5. Calvin Lam Calvin Lam says:

I chose this book because I was reading a book by Emily Rodda and searched up other books that she wrote and this is one of them The books start out by summarizing what had happened so far It has friends that care for one another like best friends helping each other out 'I never thought I'd see you stand on your own two feet again my friend' Barda said cheerfully Rodda 412

  6. Tristan Tristan says:

A thoroughly fun romp of a series While this didn't have uite the spine tingling excitement it had when I first read most of the series it was still a rollicking good adventure written in readable and engaging prose not too hard for the target audience not so easy that their parents who might be reading it to them get bored Deltora uest is a classic story of the plucky hero who comes from the regular people out to save his people from the vaguely defined Evil Enemy but this easy type casting of the story is no criticism Lief is a neat character one we are glad to grow to know better over the course of the work watching him grow and change as he fights through the typically near impossible tasks ahead of him Jasmine and Barda make nice foils each developed into characters with their own motives and opinions wild Jasmine and stoic Barda learn from one another and from Lief as he learns from both of them in turn The adventure is peppered with fun little puzzles as well enough to draw the reader into trying to figure them out before turning the page but never so hard as to jam up the story or be unrealistic that our three heroes could solve them with such seeming easeEach installment follows the heroes as they try to recover another of the magic stones that should be filling the great Belt of Deltora the magic talisman that had kept the Shadow Lord across the mountains from ruling Deltora The stones went missing sixteen years before Leif's adventure begins just before the Shadow Lord's dark influence took over the land Each stone is guarded by a fearsome Guardian usually some sort of monster who long predated the stones' placement in their care Some of these monsters were created or sent by the Shadow Lord or his servants long ago view spoilerSoldeen Rheea hide spoiler

  7. Ashley Case Ashley Case says:

This is a great series for 3rd through 5th graders Clean intriguing really gets the brain going You must read all 8 books to get the full story so it is a commitment Besides some small inconsistencies the writing is fantastic

TCL Call # J Rodda EChris’s Rating 3 StarsWith the Kings of Deltora having lost their way by following senseless traditions the Shadow Lord is able to overthrow the land and steal the one thing that kept him at baythe magical belt of Deltora Years later Lief son of one of the king’s past servants posing as blacksmith sets out on an epic uest to restore the belt of Deltora While his father was able to save the belt itself the magical gems which gave the item its power have been scattered throughout the land in the most dangerous of locations With the aid of Barda briefly trained as a palace guard and Jasmine a girl who speaks to trees and animals Lief fights his way past an impressive knight holding the key to immortality a sorceress with the power to morph others to her will as well as many other dangers Each book takes the reader through a new horror as the magic stones are slowly recovered and restored to the belt itselfThe Deltora uest is a black and white fantasy with a uniue voice The books are relatively short contain riddles and each move from one adventure to the next without relying too heavily on the previous story Parts of it seem very predictable but I haven’t read clear to the end of the series to confirm my suspicions There are two things that would have made the story appeal to me The first is that most of the riddles and codes are ones that I have already encountered in other stories I’m not sure exactly where or which stories predate each other making their actual cleverness lessen for me The second is although Lief and his friends face peril they seldom seem to argueokay they argue but the arguments end so uickly or at least seem to end so easily that it really doesn’t seem like an argument Everything is painted black and white with little in between I would have liked a little complexity even from a book written for children Other than that the stories themselves are clean safe for even younger children and the adventures are interesting enough although I may never get to the end of the series Recommended for children 9 12 who like classic fantasy in olden make believe settings

I read Deltora uest books 1 4 to my boys and it was a complete hit with them It was the first epic type adventure book I've read to them where the characters had a uest or multiple uests to perform before saving their world They're both advanced readers and loved the Magic Treehouse series so I thought I would try this one out on them Having picked up the hardback copy at a thrift store I took a chance Before I even finished the book they asked for me to get the rest of the story so we could finish it My hubby and I took turns reading it and were just as interested as the boys to hear every word and I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good uest like tale Barda Leif and Jasmin are looking for the 7 stones to restore the Belt of Deltora to its previous power in order to overthrow the evil Shadow Lord and encounter lots of danger at every turn Very Exciting I ordered a book from that has books 5 8 in it so we'll continue reading about Deltora tonight Here's the link to this book on

I honestly really like this book Even though this book is made for the younger kids i still love the story line and the characters I find myself trying to find books like it in the YA and Adult book and i havent had any luck This series is one of my favorites along with the Dragons of Deltora and The Shadowlands This story is all about friendship and the race to save Deltora Normally when a story has a plot about saving a kingdom their is less about the friendship and trust the hero's have with each other an about the action and adventure of it all not Deltora uest It has a nice mixture of both
