    This book was read for the genre study project In this book, the main character s who is never mentioned by name single mother has a new friend named Dan But our hero doesn t see why he has to like Dan But when he, his mother, and Dan go out exploring one day, he decides that Dan isn t so bad after all This would fall under contemporary realistic fiction as it shows how hard it can be for a child with a single parent to accept when that parent finds a new boyfriend or girlfriend and just do This book was read for the genre study project In this book, the main character s who is never mentioned by name single mother has a new friend named Dan But our hero doesn t see why he has to like Dan But when he, his mother, and Dan go out exploring one day, he decides that Dan isn t so bad after all This would fall under contemporary realistic fiction as it shows how hard it can be for a child with a single parent to accept when that parent finds a new boyfriend or girlfriend and just don t see why the child should like this new friend But it also shows how the child can also accept this new friend I ve never gone through such an experience, but it shows me that it s definitely possible I think it could be for younger audiences as it can definitely show kids with single parents how the whole thing can work and this would probably be a must for those who are going through this situation

    This book is about a little boy adjusting to the fact that his mom as a new friend This friend is around a lot and at first the little boy does not like him at all Eventually the little boy learns to like the friend and accepts the fact that he will be around a lot I think that parents dating is very common now a days, and even if someone is not going through it, it is very likely they know someone who is This story just helps every one relate to that It is also a very good story to teach This book is about a little boy adjusting to the fact that his mom as a new friend This friend is around a lot and at first the little boy does not like him at all Eventually the little boy learns to like the friend and accepts the fact that he will be around a lot I think that parents dating is very common now a days, and even if someone is not going through it, it is very likely they know someone who is This story just helps every one relate to that It is also a very good story to teach kids that first impressions are not always accurate and to give someone a chance before writing them off I would find a way to bring this into a younger aged classroom I thought it was very cute and hit the topic very subtly

    This book was very cute I would not recommend reading it in a classroom setting unless you discuss with your kids that it could mean something other than just a boyfriend or girlfriend Besides that, I think it is a fun book The pictures are great The dialogue between the son and his mom is very interesting I liked this book I would recommend this book to first grade and up.
