Wow I did not expect this book to be this good but I became engrossed in it from the first paragraph This is a talented writer and this is a story that is different from most YA fiction I love discovering authors that write character driven novels These are the kind of books that I can become completely immersed in because the emotions of the protagonist are conveyed in full It's like stepping into the shoes of the main character and walking into her worldHer feelings are so real and I felt every one of them She is in a fragile emotional state but she is not weak I really liked this character and understood her desire to run away from her problems Of course she is then presented with an entirely new set of problemsI enjoyed her transformation into a new identity and the new life she created for herself It's something I used to fantasize about doing myself I've always wondered if changing your personality and presenting yourself as a different person to new people would really have an affect on how they treat you How much is influenced by looks and how much by attitude? The romance is one of my favorites that I've ever read in a YA book I love mysterious intriguing guys I also love when the attraction is strong but not acted on right away They got to know each other and were interested in than just the physical It made them a memorable distinctive coupleI also liked how Sydney's view of her father evolved and how she confronted him about failing her as a parent The stages of grief were realistically portrayed throughout the book It was wonderful how they found their way back to being a family in the end There was hope and optimism for both her relationship with her dad and her romance with Eric
