2nd grade 4th gradeBrother Wolf is a Native American fable from the Seneca Tribe about how birds got their colors and how the raccoon got it's stripes The pictures in this book are very stylized with bold lines and earthy colors I really enjoyed this book I like the artwork and I believe that a class would enjoy this tale if it was read to them or if it was in the room The sentences are medium length about 10 words on average The sentences do not have a lot of breaks in them Judging by the sentence length I would say that this book would be best for pre fluent or emerging fluent readers Language ArtsFine ArtsLesson Plan Make construction paper cutouts using this style of painting

  3. Heather Heather says:

FolktalesWolf and Raccoon engage in teasing It goes too far and Raccoon almost hurts Wolf In the process of Wolf and Raccoon working it out the Seneca explain two occurrences in nature One of them being the coloring of the birdsI really enjoyed the story as well as the tribal detail given by the author at the end This is a very easy book to incorporate into a classroom setting
