DNF 81%The Nanny Arrangement is the second book in the Country Blues series You don’t have to read books in order I didn’t read the first book and I was perfectly fine I really like that because I get lost easily but this was never the case for meSo interesting fact I met Rachel Harris at a book signing The woman is REALLY nice and sweet It pains to say I could not finish this bookThe reason for me for not finishing this book is simply because of the genre I’m a mood reader and as I was reading this book I felt like it was like a chick lit feel There’s nothing wrong with that but I’m just in a New Adult feel right nowThe book starts with Hannah and her best friend Deacon as childhood friends This was only one chapter and to my surprise there was nothing of that I REALLY wanted the history of the friendship I longed for flash backs or a longer beginning of them growing up Like why did Hannah have a crush on him so bad? What awesome and sweet things did Deacon do to make her fall in love with him? It was mentioned a few times Deacon was her Hero and protector while she played outcast BUT I wanted to read about it like the actual events in real timeThe first 30% of the book was a bit slow and it took a bit for me to get into There is A LOT of character build up and narrative writing The author likes to set up the stage for you and there’s nothing wrong with that it’s just not my cuppa I didn’t care to read pages and pages of narrative writing I crave dialogueHannah is the sweet nanny that will be taking care of Deacon’s son while he is on tour in his band I LOVE single parent book If I could I would read single parent books daily I was excited to read about Hannah taking care of Max It’s nice to read where the son has a presence in a book I couldn’t really connect with Hannah’s character I believed she is the shy nanny that wants to seduce her boss but I also couldn’t see her as not being able to seduce her best friend Does that make sense? She knew him for years why couldn’t she just flat out say “HEY I like you” Instead she tries to flirt with him and when that doesn’t work the girls on the tour try to help Hannah outOverall the book is sugary sweet simple and very calm I usually read books with a touch angst or a touch of sex Like I said there is nothing wrong with a nice chick lit book to put a smile on your face BUT alas it just wasn’t for me An ARC was provided

I had hopes for The Nanny Arrangement but unfortunately I was disappointed I’ll warn now that there are possible spoilers ahead Hannah has been in love with her best friend Deacon basically since he moved to their small town at the age of fifteen He adores Hannah and her family but feels he isn’t good enough for her so instead he ends up with her best friend Krista and eventually fathering a child with her Thankfully Krista isn’t in the story much at all only referenced as a past element because she takes off immediately after giving birth to their son Max Even after Krista is gone and Hannah basically becomes like a mother to Max Deacon still views Hannah as the perfect girl someone on a pedestal and won’t allow his feelings of attraction come into play Hannah doesn’t think Deacon would ever care for her because they share an awkward moment of almost kissing or kissing? Not sure because this was never clarified and Hannah takes off for Paris to serve and an au pair She stays away for fourteen months and then comes back to take the position of tour nanny for Deacon’s son and another band member’s daughter when Blue the band Deacon has signed on with will be going on tour Much of the book is spent with Hannah pining over Deacon barely even flirting with him even though she’s resolved to make a move and Deacon having thoughts of Hannah beating himself up over those “inappropriate” thoughts “because he’s not good enough” This continues and they don’t even share a kiss until after the 50% point and of course Deacon regrets doing even that I never felt these two were solidly together even after taking things to the next level and I wanted to throw my kindle out the window at the 83% mark So incredibly irritating I don’t like reading a romance where I’m completely frustrated throughout the story so The Nanny Arrangement was didn’t work for me A copy was kindly provided by Entangled Publishing via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

I was in the mood for a uick light and easy contemporary read and when I stumbled across The Nanny Arrangement and spotted the childhood sweethearts trope I WAS SOLD This was the kind of sweet cheesy love story that I was looking forThe Nanny Arrangement is the story of shy and sweet Hannah who makes it a mission to make her childhood best friend Deacon the man she’s secretly in love with finally see her as than just her best friend Deacon is the new fiddle player in country music’s hottest band and he needs a nanny to look after his 2 year old son while he’s on the road And who could be better for the job than his best friend Hannah? This was such a cute and adorable story It made me feel all fuzzy and warm inside – mixed with a little bit of angst towards the end of the book This was such a uick light and adorable book I flew through it in 2 daysI mean the term ‘best friends to lovers’ literally already tells you what the story is about and how it is going to end so I guess you could say that the story was predictable But did I care? NOPE ABOLUTELY NOT 😀It was lovely to see how Hannah and Deacon worked together as best friends and how much both of them loved Deacon’s child Max Hannah had such a bright and happy personality and that really showed when she was around the kids She has such a creative and silly mind and it was so endearing to read about itThe Nanny Arrangement was a perfect read for me – it had best friends falling in love a single father with an adorable son a band swoons and some great supportive friendships along the way I would totally recommend it to people looking for a short contemporary read and fans of the friends to lovers trope who don’t mind some cheesy ness and fluffFull review is up on my blog I received a free ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review This did not influence my opinion in any way

I have always enjoyed the stories that Rachel creates and I was pretty excited for this one Especially since it was a BFF to story I loved Hannah and Deacon She's sweet and he's stoic and it works They have such a history and it was fun reading them navigate this new portion to their relationship And one of the best parts was seeing the characters from the previous books My only complaint if you could call it that is that I wanted of them together They were adorable in their scenes but it felt like we got of each of them thinking about the other instead of actually being with them Of course there was the push away and the grand gesture and thankfully the angsty times didn't last too long The epilogue was perfect and left me wanting I can't wait to see who the next book is about Huge thanks to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for providing the arc free of charge

45 starsI can honestly say that Rachel Harris does not disappoint her readers with The Nanny Arrangement This book is number two in her Country Blues series and is tied to her Love Games series however it can easily be read as a standalone Yes as the title implies the nanny and her employer well one of them fall in love but they happen to be best friends since their early high school years This was a sweet friends to lovers story in which we get a glimpse of their past lives together the incident that sent the heroine fleeing to France as an au pair and a look at them figuring out in each other they have everything they could want and Deacon Lattrell is finally making his dreams come true as the new fiddle and keyboardist for Blue an up and coming country rock band Heading out on tour Blue’s management hires Deacon’s best friend Hannah Fisher to be the band’s nanny which works great for him because she has spent a lot of time with Max since his birth Hannah having just returned from France is on a mission to make Deacon see her as than a friend little does she know that Deacon has noticed her but fears losing his best friend and Max losing her as a nanny if he acts on his feelingsHonestly I always find myself smiling when I read a book by Ms Harris because they just make me happy For years Deacon protected Hannah and she called him her Superman and he called her Cherry because of her red hair and her easy blush When she befriended the “new kid” on the block she never imagined having such a great friend and as she realized his home situation wasn’t the best her parents gave him guidance love support and a place to land when he needed it Becoming a single Dad after his son’s mother took off at the hospital threw him but between Hannah and her parents he is giving everything he can to make sure his son knows he is loved and has the stability he never felt Both Hannah and Deacon were insecure about many things but what I loved was that they were always there to lift one another up and help each other see that they were stronger than they realizedI very much enjoyed the sensuality of The Nanny Arrangement the camaraderie of the band and their significant others the adorable Max and these friends finding their way to each other despite a few bumps in the road along the way Review copy provided for a voluntary review

This is a delightful friends to lovers romance with great characters and a plot that keeps readers guessing to very near the end Hannah Fisher was the victim of many bullies through her school years As a red haired girl wearing unfashionable clothes who had a speech impediment she really didn’t expect anything else However when Deacon Latrell moved into a neighbouring property she was brave enough to introduce herself to him and that was the start of their friendship He stuck up for her she looked out for him he was her Superman and they were BFF She inspired him to try playing musical instruments and now he’s playing with a top country music group The problem is being friends is not enough and Hannah has returned from working in Paris to join Deacon travelling on tour with her working as his son’s nanny Hannah has also decided that she’s going to stop just being Deacon’s best friend she’s going to get him to see her as a woman and hopefully get him to love her like she has loved him for years The background of the two main characters their interactions and shared love of Max shine through this story They aren’t however the only great characters in the story Other members of the band and their partners all play key roles in this heartwarming romance Insecurities dreams anxieties and new friendships are all going on this band tour each contributing to the whole melodious composition that is a story of having the courage to move from ‘only’ BFF to give romance and love a chanceI was gifted a copy of this novel via NetGalley chose to read it and this is my honest opinion after doing so You’re Still the One is the first book in this series – and I enjoyed that one too
