Marty Rayne is a new author for me When I came across A Master’s Love I decided to give this book and this author a try I am glad I did Even though A Master’s Love is BDSM themed and I would rate it as one of the milder books I have read of this genre It was obvious since one of the characters is just starting out and experimenting with this lifestyle that the author was edging him into it slowly instead of going all hardcore at once I thought the slower introduction to BDSM play was realistic so I actually liked that about this bookKyle is curious about the BDSM lifestyle and wonders if he is a natural submissive His best friend and roommate dates a woman who runs “Angel Heart” which is an exclusive BDSM themed business where people can come and experience the lifestyle and be in a safe environment After much thought Kyle decides to check “Angel Heart” out and makes an appointment based on his roommate’s girlfriend’s recommendation he makes an appointment with the head Dom Nate The moment Kyle and Nate meet sparks fly between them Kyle falls into the submissive role uite easily as he finds himself wanting to please his new Master Nate on the other hand is having a difficult time remaining professional with Kyle because he is feeling things he has never felt before when he around Kyle There isn’t any angst in this book Kyle and Nate pretty much fall in love at first sight There isn’t much conversation between them until the end of the book either I will admit I would have liked to have seen of Kyle and Nate going on a date and getting to know one another instead of one BDSM scene after another I liked this book and I plan on reading by this author This would be a great book for someone who had never read any BDSM themed books; just to see if something like that would interest them It’s not offensive and it really doesn’t push any boundaries and as I said earlier Nate is really just introducing this lifestyle to Kyle so they are taking it pretty slow and easy325 stars

Very ordinary Mainly sex Just a little soft BDSM The author doesn't know much about Ds He speaks of Mastersub relationship instead of Masterslave or Domsub He mixes things that are fundamentally different view spoilerKyle went to a place where you're supposed to find the best Doms The author said that Nate is the best of all But there was no safewords no discussions about soft or hard limits no discussion about past traumas or whatever that could have a bad influence on the scenes Nothing of that sort Nate only asked Kyle if he masturbates and what he thinks when he does Nate repeatedly asked if Kyle dreamed of him and thought of him He ordered Kyle to described his dreams that are all about Nate and sex hide spoiler

I wish that the site recognized partial stars because this book was really a 35 for me which of course I rounded up to 4 when rating I had high hopes for this read as I am a huge fan of books that feature BDSM plots While I did like the tension and the burgeoning relationship between Kyle and Nate I found the overall impact of the book slightly underwhelming I was left uestioning why the author chose to use a BDSM set up for the plot I thought that Kyle coming to terms with his submissive nature would be much important to the book than it actually was And once Kyle and Nate started acting on their attraction to each other the BDSM elements were relegated to a back burner While that would normally not bother me the title alone led me to make certain assumptions regarding the plot that really did not hold true That said I did enjoy many aspects within the story I thought that the sexual tension between the two men was handled really well and I did like the family that Marty Rayne created within this novella and in fact would like to read about everyone including the secondary characters I just wish that the narrative had been a bit longer so that I could have experienced a in depth look at the characters and the growth of their relationship

I liked this story It's sexy and the characters are compelling But I felt like there was to it That somehow the book should have been longer There was story to tell Not in a seuel type of way but that the current story could have been fleshed out Then again I like books that are 300 pages

Kyle is a 24 years old young man with no apparent problems in his life but he has not yet found the true love And he thinks that maybe but not for sure he can be interested in a dominitionsubmission relationship To find if it is true he goes to a private club a place where subs pay real dom not for sex but to have someone who takes care of you And Kyle finds Nate a very young dom maybe of his same age who is the best in the club but from the very first time Nate lays his eyes on Kyle he knows he can't be a detached dom as usual cause he wants Kyle and not for only few hours during the week Kyle is a simple characters with no real problem and so he is not so complex Nate instead has a past of abuse and now allow only to his best friend Sydney to be emotionally close to him The domsub relationship is not the center of the story it is only the way Kyle and Nate meet And Kyle is not a real sub he really doesn't need to be directed Instead Nate has an extreme need of someone who loves him A enjoyable reading I reccomend to have a fast insight of the BDSM reality without be too immersedhttpelisa rollelivejournalcom81

A Master's Love tells the story of Kyle and Nate Kyle who thinks there is something missing in life decides to go to the fetish parlour Angel's Heart in order to see if he might be a submissive Nate is the handsome Dominant who opens the door for their first session and the story continues from there More could have been made of this Why did Kyle think he was submissive? Had he seen something somewhere? Read about it and thought it might be for him? The reader never knows They are both attracted to each other from the moment they meet which seemed a bit too sudden for me as they don't really know anything much about each other yet and neither do the readers There is sexual tension between the two heroes which sizzles throughout Nate has never fallen for a client before and it takes all his willpower to keep from touching Nate which is not really allowed during their sessions The sex scenes are well written as is the whole book Ms Rayne has a way with words but I felt there was something lacking in the character development It might have been because it's a short book and if longer those issues may well have been addressed There's also a bit of telling rather than showing We're told in the narrative about Nate's past rather than have it revealed as the story goes along I did like both Nate and Kyle as characters and you root for them to get their happy ending If you're a bit wary about reading something with BDSM in it this one is fairly light on that aspect There are some toys some bondage and some Dominantsubmissive scenes Kyle has to obey orders such as not touching himself etc All in all it was a good book although it had a few problems they didn't detract too much from my enjoyment of the book I will certainly give other books by this author a go

This book had everything going for it and was headed toward a 5 star rating but fell just a little short On the plus side this one hit my romantic Ds button with great build up of the sexual tension and emotional chemistry between Kyle and Nate Unfortunately the Ds element took a back seat once the main characters decided to explore their relationship beyond the initial client aspect in which they meet Given that Nate's job revolved around being a Dominant it seemed hard to believe that he could literally just drop it in his relationship with his partner other than the occasional role play Obviously I would have loved to see this continue but that aside I loved both characters and there were some pretty hot scenes between them I'm definitely looking forward to the next books in the series

This is a hard book to rate if you assess it as a piece of fiction based on reality you'd have to rate it 1 star because it is simply pure fantasy you get an elite BDSM business where people pay for domination without any sex something unlikely in 'real life' you get insta love eye roll but the biggest 'fantasy' aspect is Nate he just didn't come across as an alpha personality this book didn't really do much for me I found the BDSM aspect anaemic lackluster; the romance improbable; the characters two dimensional the only saving grace for this book is that it is reasonably well written if you are in the mood for something light reasonably fluffy then you should enjoy this book if you are looking for a reading experience where you get to see a man embrace an emerging submissive desire then you'll be sorely disappointed

  9. Shawn Shawn says:

GRRRWHAT A WASTE OF TIME The whole thing rang so incredibly unrealistic and vanilla I didn't believe for one second that Nate was a Dom and Kyle didn't seem much like a Sub either If both Nate and Kyle were written as switches that would have made sense I just never felt that control or command needed to be a Dom nor the genuine release into submission It felt like the writer was playing w BDSM ideas than writing a story that involved people who live the lifestyle It especially rang false to me after just reading Bound and Determined by Alexa Snow Jane Davitt Yeah just not so good this one

  10. S.L. S.L. says:

Pros I loved the characters The sensuality was impressive You could feel the heat coming off the screen There were some of the most erotic scenes I've ever read in thisCons The 'BDSM' wasn't really BDSM It's what I would call mild kink Kyle goes to Nate for dominance but there was actually very little of that But really I think that's all I have to say about the negatives
