With the help of Wonder Woman Supergirl Ms Martian and some of her other super friends she intends to find out But she just made captain of the fencing team she has a huge school project due and a villain with ties to her family’s past seems to be amassing an army Maintaining her inner peace isn’t going to be easy but Katana has the steel to save the day Goodreads ReviewI was so excited to see Katana as the featured super in the fourth book of the Super Hero High Girls series Katana has been uite a mysterious character in the previous books In the first one readers had small glimpses of Katana and as the series expanded we got a chance to see of her and get to know her personality Now we really get to know Katana and her background storyThe book starts off right where book three ended Katana is late for Batgirl’s party and she is nowhere to be found This is unusual of Katana and the rest of the supers start looking for her They finally find Katana within the tunnels of Super Hero High with a hundred samurai swords which come from an unknown source along with mysterious clues that Katana has to solve in order to learn why they are related to her pastSomething that I liked about the Katana portrayed in this story is that she is very artistic and well disciplined and gives her best in everything she does whether it’s her training or school work This can be seen in her swordsmanship in June Moon’s art class and in Crazy uilt’s class as well Another aspect I liked about Katana was her interaction with Miss Martian that later turned into a solid friendship In this book not only does the reader get to know about Katana but we also get to know about Miss Martian who is typically in the background invisible to others Miss Martian turns out to be a key element in solving some of Katana’s mysteriesAnother character that gets some spotlight is Parasite the janitor I hadn’t really paid much attention to his character in the previous books but he kind of grows on you in this one Katana’s grandmother was also an interesting character at a certain point through the book Katana learns about her and I just loved the way author Lisa Yee wrote this part it had a cozy warm feeling between grandmother and granddaughter One of my favorite scenes was when the villain reveals itself to the superheroes it was like imagining a scene of an old Japanese movie 😉Another great book by Lisa Yee She is reinventing the superheroes for the young fans that are starting to get into comic book heroes with her own twist but keeping some of the old school comic book elements I recommend you read Katana at Super Hero High OBS would like to thank the publisher for supplying a free copy of this title in exchange for an honest review

Katana at Super Hero High by Lisa Yee is the fourth book in the DC Super Hero Girls series The series focuses on DC's famous female super heroes and also some villains But before they become mortal enemies they're just your not so average teenage supers that are learning what it means to be a hero and dealing with all the pressures that come along with itThe students at Super Hero high are given a legacy assignment where they must interview members of their families to find out where they came from their histories their roots Katana thinks that this assignment will help uncover the mystery of her grandmother's disappearance And if that was all she had to worry about it would be enough but it's not When mysterious swords appear along with a puzzling haiku Katana has to unravel the intrigue before danger arrives Luckily for Katana she has some great friends to help her outKatana at Super Hero High is my favorite so far in this series I loved the story line about discovering the supers' legacies but I also loved that Yee addresses the pressures from expectations that the supers deal with I think a lot of young kids will be able to relate This series is all about empowering young girls and giving them heroes with all their flaws to look up to My daughter and I both highly recommend this seriesRead at

This novel is aimed at folks a lot younger then me but I really enjoyed itOn Free Comic Book Day I got a copy of a DC SuperHero Girls comic I liked it enough that I got this from my local library when I found out that there five novels based on the comic series I picked Katana because when I was a young comics reader she wasn't around This young Japanese student is named after the sword she carries She becomes aware through a series of haiku the appearance of one hundred Japanese swords and the appearance of strange ghost crabs that the world is in danger Katana with the co operation of the other students figure out what's going on The students work as a team There are fights but no gore And there is a great ending including a wonderful special ending for Katana All ages can appreciate this novel

  9. Jennifer Jennifer says:

I picked up this book because I asked my niece what her favorite books were She said this was one of her favorites though my expectations were low The idea of a group of existing super heros put into a high school each other makes little sense and it is a cop out The story has a lot of tacky moments which I expected from a book like this Over simplification of characters cliches and attempts to blend the plot line super powers and high school life together And since I wasn't a fan of a the DC universe I did have to google a few characters to find out who they were But overall I think the story is interesting and about halfway through the plot overtakes the tacky moments in the bookI wouldn't suggest this book to a grown adult but I think this is a great story for kids Especially if they are fans of some of the DC characters

  10. Anji Anji says:

Take off your glasses Let's see your eyes Me Yes I did Didn't it move you?7th grade daughter MaybeIguess YesI find it interesting that my kids asked me if I was crying at an emotional part as if they weren't affected and were just curious These are so incredibly well written Truly Each volume is stand alone incredible but so far this is our favorite And Harley uinn remains our favorite minor character We highly recommend you check them out
