Some might say at so few pages 'oh an easy read' But then those that had the pleasure of enjoying Christchurch pre 20102011 earthuakes and then went back after like me would say 'it isn't so' Here photographs say than what words ever could These are before and afters of certain points in the city Never has it been so upsetting to see clearer skylines in after shots And one of the worst 'after' images for me isn't even a building it is the former water fountains outside of the Christchurch Town Hall and the steps above them No does water spray out delightfully and weeds now cover unused once busy stairways It has taken me a while to really look at this book It came out late 2014 and now it is heading toward late 2016 And I've walked parts of the city and looked across parts you can no longer go I've peered into the grounds of what must once have been beautiful homesteads and grounds and all that is left is weeds and decay One couldn't help but shed tears over all that history I loved now lost I know that people must pick up carry on and renew but I know I could never live there now though I had been planning on it two weeks before the first uake hit in 2010 I'd like to think my guides were looking after me and kept me away Great book Deb Donnell you captured the changes so well and so tastefully Thank you
