Justin and Cara have escaped the walls of the New City with the help of Alex The two try to find a safe place to hide out as the Vie slaughter all the Anemie in the city Justin can't help but feel guilty because he left without his little sister Sammie who may not even be alive and is angry and hateful towards Alex Alex claims to want to do the right thing but his abuse of Anemie blood and continued following of orders that harm mortals make Justin wary of him and hypocrisy Cara has been told by Alex to steer Justin towards Prospect where there is a camp of freed slaves but Cara is unwilling to manipulate him and Justin hates Alex so the two start to head in a different direction when they get captured by Sparrow Sparrow is part of a camp of Anemie who's leader Lawton has grandiose plans to overthrow the Vie At first Lawton is unwilling to keep Justin and Cara but then he sees the video of a Vie drinking Justin's blood and realizes that Justin is the bringer of death Lawton keeps Justin in his camp to use as a weapon as he figures out a way to trap and kill Vie Things go south uick as the Anemie killings in the city ramp up and Alex seems to be killed while Lawton progressively gets reckless with his plans to take down the VieAn interesting plot idea the Vie are supposed to be immortal aliens that travel to planets and take them over I wish there was a little clarity about the immortality bit especially in conjunction with the aliens because it made it a little confusing about why Alex had to do all his experiments The pacing was good and I enjoyed the plot it was some what different from anything I've read recently I love Sparrow but for some reason Cara got on my nerves especially insisting on accompanying Justin everywhere Not sure how I feel about the ending though it felt sort of abrupt Overall a pretty decent scififantasy read kept my attention until the endSomeone needs to do something about that cover though it's not appealing

I guess I went in to the book thinkingthis is how it is going to end Then every time something happened that I didn't expect I rewrote the ending in my mind I got to the end of the book and realized that every new turn was a surprise and nothing turned out like I thought Kept me on the edge of my seat great read

3 35 Stars Read all my reviews on I must start by saying that while it didn't influence my rating of the book it must be the ugliest cover I've seen all year I don't even understand how it fits into the book So the Vie are still terrorizing the Earth and people who are anaemic provide a powerful drug the Vie like to get high on In this conclusion to the story it is time to bring the Aliens and the system down Like I said in my review of Dawn of the Vie it has all been done before but it is still very enjoyable I liked the second book slightly less The discovery of others and the power struggles in between the resistance are never my favourite parts Still glad I read it though Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
