I don't know why I could not tag the correct book but this is actually Mornings on Horseback I have always enjoyed David McCullough's meticulous yet throughly entertaining biographies Many years ago I tackled Truman and still recall how much I learned about him and how very much I enjoyed getting to know the man outside of a couple of paragraphs in a history bookTR was almost a mythical figure and this story of his childhood and life up to his second marriage is utterly fascinating The correlations between the years following the Civil War and our current times are remarkable I wish citizens were interested in our history and how cyclical it is

  2. Pat Pat says:

As usual David Mc Cullough makes reading history a sheer delight He tells the story of TR before his Presidency; chock full of detail And WHAT an interesting family TR stems from where each member contributes to the man he became A wonderful read

  3. Ellen Turnbaugh Ellen Turnbaugh says:

Can't get enough of David McCullough

  4. Laurie Mooney Laurie Mooney says:

excellent David McCullough could write about the phone book and IT would be a best seller too
